This feature is posted every Tuesday by 5:00 AM EST with a Mr. Linky at the bottom if you'd like to add your link to your own post about what deals you found at your local Kroger or Kroger-affiliated store. Please click here to read the rules ; the html code for the 149x149 button is in my sidebar.

Feel free to link up to this all week and share the good deals you find at your local Kroger or Kroger-affiliated store!
As always, please add a link back to me in your Krogering post. Not sure how to do this? Just email me and I'll walk you through it!

My trip to Kroger Marketplace, February 1, 2009

Spent: $37.05
Saved: $91.44, or 71%

This was another week where I decided to make a *split* trip to Kroger, where I made a quick trip on Sunday to grab a the last of the Mega Sale Deals and then made another quick trip Monday morning to grab some fresh deals on the new sale.

Oh Kroger, you had me at Unlimited Double Coupons. But the savings events - like last week's Mega Sale and this week's Daytona 500 Sale - well, my loyalty has only grown deeper. ;-)

All kidding aside, the savings events like the Mega Sale or the Daytona 500 are fantastic ways to stockpile for the weeks to come, weeks whose offers will look much leaner in comparison to these two big sales.

I'm not going to break down the coupons and deals on this Krogering adventure because the items I bought were almost all a part of the Mega Sale event which is now done. And even though this week's coupons weren't terribly amazing, I threw in an extra Sunday newspaper for more coupons to use in the future.

Onto this week...the Daytona 500 Sale Event! More near-freebies...WOOT!

My trip to Kroger Marketplace, February 2, 2009

Spent: $45.81
Saved: $49.78, or 52%

The Daytona 500 Sale Event at Kroger isn't nearly as jaw-dropping as the last two weeks Mega Sale Event, but it ain't too shabby, either!

I'm hoping that this sale event runs for two weeks straight as well, otherwise I'm already sure that next week will be a split trip too so that I can load up on the last of the Daytona 500 Sale Event items on Sunday evening before the sale is over.

  1. Jamie // February 3, 2009 6:18 AM

I love the Let's Go Krogering Feature! Kroger is one of my most favorite places to shop!

  2. Marianne Thomas // February 3, 2009 6:36 AM

Jamie: I love Kroger, too. I shop a Kroger Marketplace and I think I could just live there, it's that nice!

    Thanks for linking!

You know, I have ralph's here in southern CA (same difference it looks like) but my sales go Wednesday - Tuesday. So today is my lat day of the Mega match up. Looks like you are two days ahead of me. I'll definitely keep checking back with you on deals and steals so I can use them when I go to my Ralph's!! Thanks for all your information and all! I know it's time consuming to post but so helpful! THANKS!!!

  4. Marianne Thomas // February 3, 2009 10:21 AM

Heather: Thanks for pointing out the difference in the weekly ad timing.

I know even among Kroger stores, not just affiliates, some regions also run their ads Wed - Thurs.

It's a little confusing, but the good thing is if you're in a region where the ad starts later, you do get to "preview" some of the deals via the blogs.

And I'm glad to post what deals I find/use + link my friend Andrea's fuller listing of coupon matchups. My hope for this weekly feature is to create a reference point where all of us who love Kroger can find the best deals each week, including the ones not always listed in the ad.

    Thanks for commenting!!

  5. Heather & Chaos // February 4, 2009 8:16 AM

Ok, I got my ralph's ad today. I'm MAD!!! They have "in small print" the Daytona 500 match up. But you don't get the $3 instantly - do you?? We get 300 "points" on our rewards card and we'll get that next quarter. UGH! Looks like I'll be shopping at Albertson's this weeek instead. They have a bunch of 10 for $1 sales this week. :sigh: I just can't win. =( =) LOL!

  6. Marianne Thomas // February 4, 2009 9:22 AM

Heather: Thanks for sharing that info on the difference in the Daytona 500 sale between Kroger and Ralph's.

Does anyone else out there shop a Kroger affiliate where a similar situation is happening (rewards points vs. $3/total at check out)?

  7. Minnesota McGregor's in Ohio // February 4, 2009 1:55 PM

Oh I totally love this... but alas, I couldn't take pictures of my krogering this week since the painters were here and already laughing at me as I was telling one of my girlfriends about my stellar day at Kroger! But I did well for me... $Spent 59.66 - saved over 45% with lots of free or almost free items. Maybe next week I'll get my picture taking act together! Thanksf or doing this... this is fun!

  8. Laur // February 12, 2009 6:05 PM

I do CVS, but not as well as others, and Kroger near Houston.... love it, but the folks behind me either love what I'm doing or they can't wait for me to leave! They are surprised when I let them in at CVS when I have multiple orders! So. it's all good! Heard/saw you guys on the blog talk tonight, sent my sister to it )in Massachusetts)... She called me cause she got her first attemp at at $14.00 item for 4.00 at Walgreens though. I told her she needs to do CVS~ if she thought that was good. I have been telling her for months, so maybe she will try cvsing up north (since they have no Kroger).

  9. Marianne Thomas // February 12, 2009 6:36 PM

Laur: Yeah, Kroger has a lot of tough competition in the NE, but she should still be able to do well at CVS/Wags.

Plus, you can send her to Be Cents Able's weekly Grocery Gathering to find the deals at her local grocery store. It's an excellent resource.

Glad you listened and thanks so much for taking time to comment!
