I'll be going Krogering this morning; I'll revise this post and share my finds with you by the end of the day.

*Revised 5/19/09, 9:34 pm EST*

I found some great deals at Kroger this morning - want to see?

Spent: $66.15
Saved: $48.05, or 42%

I was worried that the gentleman in line behind me might be annoyed by my stack of coupons; he had only a few items to purchase. But as one of my *fave* cashiers at my Kroger announced my final total, he looked at me and said, "Wow."

It's not an impossible task, this couponing thing we frugalistas do each week; I wish there was a way to explain all of it in a thirty second conversation, but there's not. So instead I replied to him, "Planning. It's all about the planning."

If you're new to couponing, that's the best piece of advice I can give you. Taking the time to plan your menu then plan your shopping each week will payoff with more savings in your pocket week after week. Pretty soon, you'll look back on your old shopping ways and sigh, wondering how much money you wasted before you discovered how to stockpile, ad match, and SAVE.

Here's a breakdown of the coupons I used today; the locations (printable, Sunday insert, etc) of these coupons can be found here in my weekly Kroger Ad Matchup (Cincy Region), a printable GoogleDoc.

I had a coupon for just about everything I purchased this week. Some were on 2 so I would estimate I had 30 - 40 coupons on Sunday. I thanked the cashier and snuck a look behind me and the gentleman standing there was just smiling real big as he watched my total drop. I think they hear about it on the news and wonder if people are actually couponing and matching deals to that extent and when they see someone working these deals it becomes real to them.
