Can you believe it's August already? If you haven't been stocking up on back to school necessities (crayons and notebooks and pencils, oh my!), it's time to get those school supply lists from your child's teacher so you can get ready for the big day. Most schools post their school supply lists on their websites and most local retailers have copies of the lists available at the front of their stores as well.

Remember to stock up for the whole school year on things that your child will need replenished as they use them - crayons, pencils, and notebook paper are biggies that come to my mind. The rock bottom prices/deals you see now will disappear once school is fully in swing so if you know you'll need more of a certain item, save yourself the $$ and stockpile it now.

This is also a great time to stock up on items for your home office (printer paper, anyone??) so take stock of what you need/what you use most and stock it up, baby!

Here's links to some of the best I see for this week; a big THANK YOU to all the bloggers who are diligently covering these deals to save YOU money!

$0.15 Top Flight Notebook (70 sheets) or Oxford Portfolio (2 pocket)

$0.25 Crayola Crayons, 24 ct

$0.50 Office Works #2 Pencils, 10 ct

$0.50 Top Flight Composition Notebook, 100 sheets

$1.00 Crayola Classic Markers, 10 ct

$0.75 Top Flight Filler Paper, 150 sheets

25% off Backpacks or Lunch Kits

Kroger is also running a back to school supply catalina on specific brands: buy $10 of participating products, earn a $2 cat OYNO; buy $20, earn a $4 cat OYNO. Brands include: Expo, Papermate, Mead, Sharpie, Crayola, Avery, FiveStar, Uniball; this catalina is available from July 11 - August 21.

Important note: Several bloggers are reporting that the catalina is triggering based upon REGULAR prices, not sale prices, meaning potentially HUGE savings!

HUGE 3-Day Sale, Friday, 8/6-Sunday, 8/8 | 50% on select Cereal, Fruit Snacks, Granola Bars!(Think back to school breakfasts and snacks for lunchboxes!)

See the list of matchup items for this sale event at the bottom of this post (thanks, Gracefully Saving!)

Just a note on this 3 day, 50% off sale - I remember this sale event running during August of 2009 and if my memory serves me, there were several unadvertised items included in the 50% off sale, items like Keebler crackers, Cheezits, etc. Do your research - be sure to visit your Kroger on Thursday before the sale begins to see everything that's included so you can have your coupons ready. Last year, there was a special display of these items in the front of my Kroger, right by the produce section.

Don't forget that CVS, Walgreens, and Rite Aid are also starting to feature super-cheap (and even FREE) deals on back to school supplies as well. Click here to find this week's ad matchups for those stores.

One last note: most school districts have programs in place for lower-income students who need school supplies but can't afford them. You can put your mad coupon skillz to great use - grab a few extra deals while you're shopping and donate them to your local school. They will be much appreciated!

It's amazing how much you can save just by digging around for old school supplies. I also find that the kids don't need as much as I think they do.
