What I Saved at the Stores | Weeks 6-9 of 2011

I share my weekly savings with the hopes that you might be inspired; this weekly post also serves as a means of keeping me on track with my budget goals.  Thank for stopping in to check it out!

It's been about a month since I last posted a weekly savings updat.  Real life - from wet basements to Girl Scout cookies and all the everyday details in between - has kept me hopping!

Even with my extra-busyness, I've made time to save money with strategic shopping, couponing, and drugstore dealing. Using coupons is my "normal" no matter what craziness life dishes up. ;-)

For the sake of record keeping, here's my weekly totals from the past four weeks with a bit of explanation for the numbers.

Week 6
February 6-13, 2011
(Shopped at Kroger, CVS, Walgreens, and Aldi)
Spent: $139.62 (ouch!!)
Saved: $107.06 (43%)
My overall total was way over my weekly target of $80; I cooked a huge dinner for a friend of mine who just had her seventh child - I splurged. ;-)

Week 7
February 14-20, 2011
(Shopped at Kroger, Aldi, and Walgreens)
Spent: $90.41
Saved: $57.76 (39%)
Again, I came in above budget; I cooked dinner for another family who just had their third baby and didn't worry too much about the extra costs. ;-)

Week 8
February 21-27
(Shopped at Walgreens, CVS, Kroger, and Aldi)
Spent: $81.72
Saved: $148.79 (64%)
Only a buck and change above my target thanks to the great Daytona Mega Event sale at Kroger that ended 2/27!

Weeks 4-8 2011 Totals
Spent: $417.67
Saved: $477.40 (53%)
I went over my 4 week budget target of $320/4 weeks by $97 but I did so deliberately since I was splurging on cooking dinners for the new moms and their families. Money well spent! ;-)

Week 9
February 28-March 6, 2011
(Shopped Kroger, Aldi, Walgreens, & CVS)
Spent: $66.07
Saved: $53.82 (45%)
Under budget by $14 - I didn't need much after stocking up during the Daytona Mega Event. WOOT!

FYI, I'm tracking my grocery savings in 2011 with this nifty, already-built-and-ready-to-go spreadsheet that my friend Andrea over at Savings Lifestyle has available for anyone to download & use on Google Docs. I highly recommend it! ;-)
