Taking Time to Recharge, Refresh, and Review

Time is by far our most valuable personal resource, more valuable than the money you have in your wallet today or the value of your home or your personal investment portfolio.

Time flees, never to be restored, renewed, recycled, or remade.  While we can always find ways to earn another dollar, we will never find a way to create another day, another hour, another minute.

I am at a point in my parenting journey where I finally have that most preciously craved thing I never fully believed during the exhaustingly busy diapers and naps and stroller years would ever appear - time to myself.

I had imagined that with more time to myself, I would be inspired to work harder on this blog.

To grow it.

To become bigger.

To do more.

But a funny thing happened on the way.

I realized that I don't really want to be big.

I realized that I don't really want to make my blog my job

I don't want to be plugged into Facebook, Twitter, my Google Reader, my inboxes (oh, how they overfloweth!) 24/7.  I don't want to feel the skipping heart-beating pressure to join each new social media outlet that pops up and goes viral every six months or so (nope, I still haven't sipped the Pinterest Kool Aid!).

What I do want is to get back to what got me started blogging in the first place back in 2007...

And because endless multi-tasking leads me headfirst down the same dark hilly road toward the inevitable stone wall  of burnout, because I am only one person, because life is lived where I plant my feet not where my cursor flashes, I know that the time I now have to myself is truly a valuable gift  - one that I must spend wisely.

So, my dear frugalista friends, I am taking a break from blogging here for the remainder of 2011 so that I can return to writing fiction.

While I won't be actively creating new content and/or posting here, I will still be working on the wealth of useful posts (there are well over 1,000 post) that are on this site by finishing up my reorganization, redesign, and relaunching in January 2012 (hopefully).  I simply won't be adding any new posts; instead, I'll focus on sorting through what is already here so that it is useful to you.

This means you may visit and find a mess one day and a change in appearance another day while I putter around behind the scenes.  I apologize in advance for any confusion this may cause.

I'd like to come back in January 2012 with a fresh outlook and a clearer mission than simply reporting deals, coupons, sharing my Krogering victories, and the like.  While it is important information and it is part of my everyday frugal lifestyle, I know that I need to rethink what my overall purpose in authoring this site really is if I am going to continue devoting my time to building and nurturing it.

One housekeeping note: in order to ensure that the spammers don't have a field day posting junky-linked comments here (you would not believe the spam that sneaks through here daily - oy!), I've turned off comments for the time being.  If you wish to send a note my way, feel free to send me an email at mariannethomas {dot} ts {at} gmail {dot} com.

Thanks so much for reading and for your understanding - may your time be blessed abundantly!
